New Music For Patreon!
The requests came in and the song is chosen. Kyle got the prelim tracks finished for this month's exclusive performance video. Each month we do a new song that supporters can unlock for $5 at patreon.com/roshambeaux or roshambeauxmusic.com/donate J's working on mixing and loading them in. We'll be shooting this week.
Here's a look at last month's video.
What's Up With Kyle...
I got a few personal projects I'm working on this week at the house that I've been waiting on doing until "the kid gets a little older." When my daughter was a toddler it seemed like I was always finding a new art project somewhere with a medium that wasn't easily removed: paint on the coffee table, "washable" (yeah, right) marker on the chair and coins superglued to the window sill. Now that I think I'm in the clear from at least those specific surprises I'm working on sanding, refinishing and sealing a few items. Part of me feels like I'm erasing some funny memories but I'm fortunate to be able to make new ones everyday. It's crazy how time flies. Typically when I'm writing lyrics, I try consciously to not write about one specific person for fear of it not being "relatable" but I'm working on one this week that I think is for her.
I've been working on a few more challenging piano parts this week and it's been a little frustrating dealing with some electrical gremlins in this old piano we've carried on the road for the past few years. It's definitely seen better days. I took it apart and gave its guts a good cleaning. I forgot how fun it is to see the inner working parts of an electric piano so I made a little video and put it up on Instagram.

It plays a lot better after a good cleaning. No misfires or sour ghost notes (fingers crossed). There are still a few isolated dead keys. I think the culprit is a bad solder joint in the circuit board. A friend of mine that's really good with circuit board repair suggested heating up the node to reforge the bad connection... I think I'm gonna have J do that, lol! He's a lot better with the solder gun.
What's Up With J...
This week has been a bit of a weird one. It's still astonishing to me how not getting good sleep can effect so many things. It seems to make all your normal/manageable issues blow up into crippling problems. I've had my sleep study done, apnea diagnosis and am in the waiting game to finally get some relief from a prescribed CPAP. I know normally I have a laundry list of all the things I'm currently working on and things I'm doing. But this week I wanted to try and explain some of what I've been going through. In the hopes that someone read this and know you're not alone. Mental health issues, I feel, are still attached to a negative stigma. It can be hard to admit or talk about it in fear that others won't understand or will judge you for being weak or incapable. People dealing with daily anxiety/depression, like myself, tell ourselves a variety of all the negative things about ourselves and in that believe that others must feel this way about us as well. I'm here to tell you it's all a lie. It's not real. Keep pushing through and take time to heal yourself. Don't push others out. Reach out and let those around you know what you're going through. It's ok to take time to work on yourself and those that love you only want to help. They want you to feel better. It's hard to, in the moment, realize these things. So, in this moment of clarity maybe I'm writing this not just for you but for myself. If you're reading this I love you very much. Stay strong.
